Youth at at SUMCYouth Group @ SUMC : (grades 6 to 12) -
Mission:
To lead the youth of SUMC as they connect and grow in their faith as followers of Jesus Christ, so that they may become His disciples.
Connect. Grow. Follow.
Life Verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29: 11
Vision:
Spiritual formation + Personal Connection w/ Christ = Discipleship
1. Worship – How do we give God thanks and praise for what He has done? Providing an engaging environment where youth actively participate in the service as they give God thanks and praise for all He is and all He has done.
2. Study – How do we come to know who God is and how He wants us to live? Being intentional in how youth learn who God is and how His story relates to their everyday lives.
3. Service - How and why do we serve God in our world? – support and empower youth as they learn to serve others and be the hands and feet of Christ in our world.
4. Fellowship – How do we act in our communities (school, church, friends) to please God? - Gathering as friends and neighbors to build relationships in Christian love
5. Outreach – How do we share God’s dream and tell others about God? connect with others in our community to share the hope of Jesus Christ.

You are invited to visit the SUMC Children's Love Wall (much like your facebook wall) downstairs in the hallway. Each child (not including youth group) in the church has a "love box" and I am encouraging you to share your love all month long by leaving them special messages or notes to encourage them in their faith journey as they are part of the Body of Christ.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1a

Strawberry Festival - June 1 - This is a great time of fellowship and witness as SUMC comes together to raise funds for local missions. It takes a village (or as Paul would say the Whole Body) - so let Bev Lamb or Siobhan Hudson or Julie N. know how you can help.
VBS - Kingdom Rock will be happening at SUMC on Aug 5-9 this year. You can register online soon. Lots of friendly faces and helpful hands are needed to bring the gospel message alive. Let Julie know if you are interested in helping.
Our mission project for May will be to collect items for the homeless. Examples would be soap, toothbrushes, washcloths, toothpaste and deodorant. Please place items in basket in narthex. The youth will deliver these at a later date. Thanks for helping to "Change the World."
Love in Christ,
Julie
