This Week for Children and Youth at at SUMC
Loving Hearts and Hands are still needed to serve each Sunday morning at 10:00 for Sunday School and 11:00 for Children's Worship and for other weekday events such as Tuesdays Table and Summer Fun Days. Please see Julie. MOPS of Greene began another great year of ministry to moms on Sept 1 at 7pm. Invite your friends and spread the word... MOMSENSE is what's its all about. moms helping moms.
Youth Group is gearing up.... for kickoff! All kids in grades 6 and up are invited to join the youth group. We will be meeting the 2nd and 4th Sunday Evenings of each month starting in Sept. More details and dates to follow. God's got a lot planned for them... and it's going to be an amazing ride!!!!!....... and don't forget the new YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL just for them at 10am
MOPS of Greene began its second year on Sept. 1. All moms are invited to join MOPS of Greene each FIRST Thurs. at 7pm. Come share the journey of motherhood with friends.

The Point is a new communication tool....a newsletter full of all your 'need to know' info for children, youth, families and more. If you have something to share that celebrates our faith family at SUMC, artwork from kids, pictures, songs, prayers, quotes, etc... please email them to me w/ a short praise phrase. I will also include kids schedules for sports, dance, drama so the entire SUMC family can help celebrate in the lives of the children and youth. Click here to view The Point.

8:30 Children's Church - Nursery and Preschool (babies up through 1st grade)
Sunday School at 10:00. Nursery Care provided/ 3yrs-Kindergarten Preschool group/ 1st-5th grade Elementary group will continue to Live Inside Out!!!! Youth Small group will meet at 10am in the Orange room
Preschool children's Worship at 11:00 -ages 3 through Kindergarten
Children's Worship at 11:00 - Kindergarten through 4th grade
Sundays at SUMC
8:30 Worship- Nursery and Children's Church (up to 1st grade) available
10:00 Sunday School Small Groups- Nursery available----Preschool and Elementary classes are playing "Kings and Queens". See Joanne Worley for more info

Valentine Snow Tubing w/ Circle of Friends - Sunday, Feb 19 at 4pm at Church. Tube from 5-7 and Dinner at Pizza Hut on the way home. Must be 36 inches to ride. Cost is $24 per person. We need to make our reservation and must know if you plan to attend by Wednesday at 4pm, otherwise we will cancel trip. Contact Katie or Julie N for more info. Parental Consent required.
You are invited to visit the SUMC Children's Love Wall (much like your facebook wall) downstairs in the hallway. Each child (not including youth group) in the church has a "love box" and I am encouraging you to share your love all month long by leaving them special messages or notes to encourage them in their faith journey as they are part of the Body of Christ. See attachment for list of children's names.
Loving Hearts and Hands (aka servant volunteers) are needed for 8:30 Children's Church on Feb 19 and Feb 26.
VBS 2012 Planning Meeting on Saturday, February 25 at 9am. VBS week will be Aug 6-10 and there is a way for everyone to help make this a successful ministry all for God's glory!
Children's Choir Practice - Mar 4 at 6pm- A fun time for kids of all ages to come and sing and shake, rattle and roll! Getting ready to sing for God on Easter Sunday! see Carol Haas for details.
SUMC Youth will be hosting a Spaghetti Lunch fundraiser for Stop Hunger Now during Sip n Chat on Sunday, Mar 4. Donations graciously received towards this important mission opportunity that our youth are leading.
SUMC Youth are starting a new ministry w/ TOP (Teens Opposing Poverty) w/ the homeless community in Lee Park in Charlottesville on Saturday, March 3. We will leave the church at 10:30am and return at 2:30pm. We would like to take 'Rise and Shine' kits with us to hand out to those homeless persons that may be in need. These kits contain toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar of soap and wash cloth. Please place your items in the "Mission Basket" in the Narthex. You may go to www.teensopposingpoverty.org for more info.--
